Our resolution is to post each week with the information Washington employers like you need to stay safe and save money.


This week we’re highlighting the main services we offer to our over 2,200 clients throughout Washington state.



When it comes to earning workers’ comp retro refunds in Washington state, the key to success is close collaboration between Approach and our clients, along with injured workers, doctors, L&I, and everyone else along the way. Here’s just a taste of what we offer to help make those refunds a reality:


Claim Management

Your main contact at Approach is your designated retro coordinator, a named, full-time employee who looks out for your business (If you’re not sure of your Retro Coordinator, contact us at and we’ll put you in touch).

Your retro coordinator jumps on each claim as soon as it is filed. While most claims are straightforward, some can be complex -- either way, your coordinator will fight for your company and guide you through the process all the way until that claim is closed. With 20 years’ experience, our team has a variety of proven tactics available to help get the best possible outcome.


Safety Services

Have you met Steve Heist or Holly Markee from our safety team? If so, you know just how valuable their input can be when it comes to reviewing safety manuals, walking a new job site, and incident response.

Each Approach client gets a safety visit at enrollment and then annually thereafter. But, it’s no secret that Steve and Holly will do their best to help whenever you contact them with a question or concern.

It’s easy to request your annual Washington state safety visit online. We’ll also respond whenever DOSH is conducting a safety inspection on your site or if a serious incident occurs – just call 800-626-0846.


HR Help Desk

It doesn’t take long for HR questions to come up when a workers’ comp claim is filed. That’s why we’ve partnered with All Things HR of Lynnwood, WA to provide you with an HR help desk.

The help desk is open Mon-Fri, 9am-4pm. Simply call 425-248-4978 with your HR question and you’ll get the advice and documents that you need.

It’s a great tool for small companies that do not have a full-time HR person or for HR professionals who’d like a second opinion on complex issues. 


Educational Luncheons – The Brain Trust

It’s no surprise that many workers’ comp professionals have some good stories to tell! You can learn from some of the best at our monthly Brain Trust meetings in Bellevue, Tacoma, and throughout the state. Join us when we share those stories and hear solutions to the most frustrating (and not-so-frustrating) cases.

The next meetings are January 18 in Tacoma and January 25 in Bellevue. Lunch is free and we’ll be discussing even more of the services and experts available to you as an Approach client.
